Dates of Artist’s Life: 1996-2019+
1. Personal Background: Christina Hoch is 25 and from Spain and has been taking pictures since 2009 when she was 16. She wants to be a biologist but also wants to keep photography as a hobby. She takes pictures of her sister, Maria, who she describes looks exotic and beautiful. She plans to just enjoy life in the future with nature and her family. She is Caucasian. Christina has won many awards and was the winner of Lomographic Odisea (2011), winner of Luz de Primavera (2012), finalist on Combocarte (2013), finalist on Quesabesde2013 (2013), and finalist Qretratro2015 (2015).
2. Style: Christina Hoch creates her breathtaking images by taking portraits of people. She likes to take portraits of her relatives, normally her sister and brother are featured. In the pictures, the models have freckles covering their faces. In her all her portraits, nature is present. She loves taking pictures to edit and make the freckles and nature pop. Hoch likes to make her model’s eyes stand out as well. These elements set her apart from other photographers.
3. Philosophy: Christina Hoch is trying to convey the hidden beauty of nature through her portraits. She is also trying to show the little, but flawless facial features through her art. Cristina Hoch says, "What I want to show through my photographs is the hidden beauty in the rivers, in the forests, in a glance, in the sea, in the empty and open spaces, in freckles, in simple details that my camera can’t miss; and I try to transmit this, mostly, through portraiture." Her art is something many people, especially teens are able to connect to it. In my opinion, I think Hoch is trying to conserve the environment through her pictures.
4. Influences: Christina Hoch really drew me in through her images. It captivated me because her models do an extremely amazing job of posing just right to connect with the audience. Christina Hoch made me realize that you can basically tell a story through your art. It made me feel passion for Digital Photography like I had never before. She made me realize that I can take amazing photos like this too, and I know I am capable of it.

6. Compare and Contrast: My images are similar and different in many ways. to my photographer’s in many ways. The first images are of someone laying on the ground with flowers above their head. My model and her model both have freckles. The lighting in my image is brighter than Christina Hoch’s image lighting. Another difference is that my model is looking at the camera while Hoch’s model is looking to the left of the camera. The second image is of somebody covering their eyes while they lie in grass. In my image, my model is covering her eyes, in Hoch’s image her model is also covering their eyes. The lighting is way brighter in my image than in Christina’s. Also, my model doesn’t really look like Hoch’s model. The final images are of a girl looking through a magnify glass. In my image, my model is looking through the magnify glass on her right eye, but in Christina’s image the model is looking through the magnify glass in the opposite eye. In all, my images are similar to Christina Hoch’s images, but different in their own ways. I decided to make them a little different to put my own spin on it.
7. Personal Artist Statement: My images convey the elements of color and texture. In my images, my model’s eyes and freckles pop, bringing more color to the image. Also, the nature surrounding my models are bright colors, like green to give off a summer, outdoorsy vibe which create texture. My images were all taken at my favorite place to be at in the summer, Huron Valley (Pool). The use of props in my image, make the image easier to tell a story and send a message to the audience.
